Silliness:

So, here's a shortcut to being thin everyone, anorexics and bulimics look away now.

This is a fascinating conversation between Jon Stewart, and a serious journalist.

Reassuring, if you're in an A380 and there's an emergency, you can get everyone out in 77 seconds.

Spaces won't let me embed Comedy Central videos, just visit their website to see the lates Daily Show and Colbert Report.

Don't print out unnecessary crap, use this product instead.

I want this T-Shirt; in fact I want any T-Shirt from threadless pretty much.

It's a video day today, just gotta love comedycentral's website.

Love this video:

Ebayer determined to leave silly feedback for everyone, still quite funny.

You can say what you like about open source software developers, at least they're honest.

Geekiness:

Someone understands, Microsoft don't win because they're evil, they win because their stuff works – and you don't need to spend months finding out which version you should use.

Microsoft's computer future concept

Another video from soapbox... I so want one of these.

Video of how CDs are mass produced

I especially like the part where the varnish is applied - blink and you'll miss it.

Oh, and soapbox made this so easy.

Finally a diagram so I can properly understand the 1st, 2nd cousin thing.

Books could already be said to be art, but here's some book art.

A useful set of tips to improve your performance while you're giving a talk.

Silliness:

I probably wouldn't bother mentioning this story, except I was reading it thinking "That looks like Salcombe, and the property prices are just about high enough." Well, it was Kingswear, so close enough for me.

Geekiness:

What's worrying? These people will probably one day be running a business somewhere, but at the moment they're just recreateing Mario Kart in real life.

Awfulness:

Can a parent force a child to undergo a pointless medical procedure (in this case, Circumcising a 12 year old boy) it would appear they can in America.

Ellie's Link:

Bellringer forgets to let go of the rope.

Yes, I know

Before anyone says, this is late... And I'm not sure what happened to the 18th. I guess it's lost in the post.

Silliness:

The Duke Rape Case Saga has officially ended, and no-one raped anyone – but the real victims here are the biased media who had already decided the outcome far too early. (Note to English readers – that's everyone – Duke is a highly prestigious college, and a bunch of rich white kids were accused of raping a black girl. The press decided about 30 seconds in, that they were guilty, 1 year later they're innocent.)

These are cool, but not quite $9000 cool. A stacking obelisk of chairs.

Today was a slow day all round, this is the best I could do.

In the closing minutes, Jeremy Clarkson offends Malaysia, (but it would appear lots of people agree with him for once.)

There are about a million tower defence-type games, all inspired by warcraft; this one is interesting because you make the maze yourself, using the towers.

I like Zach Braff too, but this is going a bit far.

A life lesson from Conan O'Brian, make mistakes.

Construct the cubes so they form the views you can see, took me a while to realise you could leave the cubes hanging in the air – still eventually I got all the optimal versions.

I've seen font fascism at work before, but I do think the ban comic sans people have a good point – I really hate that font.

Eco-homes are all the rage, I quite like this one.

Ever wonder what it's like to get shot? Me neither, but here's a vivid first-hand description.

What to do when the engines on your barge give out, use the JCB.

Thank you Daily Mail, you're giving people at the Metro reasons to be optimistic.

Actually more like genius, but if you have Bagel's in your packed lunch, store them in an old CD Spindle.

Ben Goldacre is getting really annoyed by the portrayal of science in the media (it would appear). I can only agree with him that science is misrepresented, and more annoyingly that I occasionally fall for it.

I can't recommend reading Bad Science highly enough, if you're interested in data-based reasoning that is.

Geekiness:

I can't wait to play this game on the tablet, draw the shapes to use the weapons.

Just when I was thinking of there not being anything silly enough today, Ikea are offering cheap pre-fab housing and thinking of doing so in the UK. This would be cool, if Huf houses weren't cooler.

That link comes from BoingBoing, but they got it from these people. I can already think of someone who'd like hepatitis chocolates.

Geekiness:

This is a really good video describing how companies can compete on the basis of speed from one of the key proponents of lean methodologies.

South Park for schools? Awesome.

A draft script for Alien 3 written by William Gibson, really good stuff.

SLOTD 2nd April 2007

Silliness:

Here's a pretty amusing web-comic, and it's all single-panel so it won't take too long to read.

Save the Vowels, those adorable little critters… Oh wait, Vowels, not Voles.

Some pretty funky pictures of drops of milk falling in to coffee.

Geekiness:

Today's word of the day is Foistware, there's a word for everything, and a lot of them end in ware.

Comments!

OK, so after about six months of regularly posting rubbish I get some comments, and it's all too exciting. Ignoring the fact I completely didn't notice them until two weeks later...

Still, you get used to a certain amount of inactivity and you stop checking... It was nice to see that people do actually read this claptrap and it's not just because I've got it as my homepage that I get any views at all.

Plus Dave from Lifekludger is probably the most polite person on the internet having thanked me for linking to him. I suppose it all helps with the googlejuice, but it's still left me feeling warm and fuzzy.

Anyway, hello to all those lovely people at my old job who still read this rubbish:

Steve – it would be cool to meet up, e-mail me on any of my various addresses, I'm sure you must have at least one of them. (Although the hotmail one is highly suspicious of anyone I don't know, I think it's running the Roston Vasey spam filter.)

Francesca – sorry to disappoint dear, but it wasn't that secret... I kid, I kid.

On another note, less than two months before I'm a married man! Arrrrgh...
